Chievo 1 - 1 Torino

This Serie A match was a relegation battle between two of the leagues smaller teams. Torino went ahead in the 40th minute against newly promoted Chievo Verona with a penalty from Rolando Bianchi. The home team equalized through Michele Marcolini and the score remained 1-1. Both teams ended the match on level terms and share a point.

“This is a point that was earned because it is not easy to come to Verona and tie against this Chievo side, which has played in good condition and have come from winning the Serie B title,” said the coach.

He went on to comment on the game, “Today we did very well in the first half by controlling the game, but we didn’t take advantage of the two opportunities, especially with Abbruscato. Once we were ahead we could have played better in the second half. Chievo gained courage and we went under physically. Tonight we felt the effect of our lack of energy from Sunday.”

A point on an away pitch will certainly prove valuable as the season progresses and Torino may find themselves deeper into relegation territory.
