Inter Step Up Rubin Interest

Torino starlet Matteo Rubin could be an Inter Milan player come next season, according to the latest reports in the Italian press.

The Serie A champions have been tracking the left full-back since October, and evidently they have now seen enough to convince them to make a bid.  It would be a massive vote of confidence for the 20-year-old, who only barely over six months ago was still suiting up for Serie C1 side Cittadella.

No less an influential figure as Roberto Mancini is said to be Rubin’s biggest advocate at the Giuseppe Meazza, and sees the youngster as ideal cover for marauding Brazilian full-back Maxwell.

Inter have reportedly already made initial contact with Torino over the Italy U-21 player, who is currently sidelined at least until March with a knee ligament injury.

There is a disparity in the price that Torino would be willing to sell at and what Inter are prepared to pay, however. Nerazzurri patron Massimo Moratti is not willing to go over the 6m Euro-mark, while his Torino counterpart Urbano Cairo is insisting on 9m Euro, despite only paying a nominal fee when signing him from Cittadella just last summer.
