Torino were relegated to the Italian Serie B following a dismal season in the top-flight, in which they could only manage 34 points from 38 rounds of football.

Immediately following the conclusion of the campaign, their coach Giancarlo Camolese was sacked, leaving the president Urbano Cairo on the search for a suitable replacement ever since.

Hours ago, the club have officially appointed Stefano Colantuono as the boss for next season, and he will be handed the task of leading the side back to the Serie A.

Colantuono is the former coach of Catania, Palermo and Atalanta, and according to the Toro website, he has been signed on a one year deal, with the option of extending it a further year, if the club are successful in achieving promotion.

“We wanted to go with Stefano Colantuono because of his vast experience, as well as the fact that he is a technical expert,” Cairo was quoted.

“We welcome him warmly to Toro.”
