Toro bankrupts Firenze with Bianchi

Torino unexpectedly overcame Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia earlier tonight, sealing their progression to the quarter-finals of the tournament, with a well-deserved 1-0 victory in Florence.

Following the contest, the victorious club’s sporting director, Mauro Pederzoli, spoke about the recent rumours surrounding Toro’s interest in the Viola duo Giampaolo Pazzini and Pablo Osvaldo.

“For now, we are just focusing on our last match of the year against Napoli this weekend, and so the transfer market is not on our minds,” the sporting director told Sky.

“Today we focused only on the match itself, and had no contact with the technical staff of Fiorentina, in terms of transfers,” he added.

“Having said this though, we have no intention of changing our attackers in January, and so the rumours concerning the arrival of Pazzini and Osvaldo are false, as we will not sign them.

“We are more than happy with the performances of the players we currently have, and we hope for a positive second half of the season,” he concluded.

Torino hosts Napoli this weekend, in an enticing battle at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin.
