Unlucky Period For Torino

Torino coach Walter Novellino analysed his side’s 2-0 defeat against Atalanta on Sunday, which saw them slip further down the standings and away from survival.

This defeat has also put Novellino in a difficult position, as according to the latest press rumours, unless he obtains a positive result against his former side Sampdoria, he will be sacked.

"In the first half I saw the Toro side I like, but in the second half we lost ourselves," admitted the former Sampdoria coach to Sky.

"I asked the players to close down the spaces and my fears became real. We must work under this aspect, it's an attitude which is not good, but I can't reprimand anything to the lads, because they gave everything.

"It's not a very lucky period, if we had scored, the game would have taken a different path."

Torino are in 18th place with 24 points from 28 games played, two points behind the survival zone and just four points above bottom side Reggina.
